Three picks across different tradeoffs — so you don't end up with three near-clones of Fooocus.

What is Fooocus?

Fooocus strips away the prompt engineering and settings sprawl of A1111 and ComfyUI, leaving a single text box and a 'Generate' button. Under the hood it runs SDXL with sane defaults, automatic prompt refinement, and built-in inpainting and image prompts. Great as an SDXL on-ramp before you graduate to a node graph.

Pros & cons

✓ PROS

  • Zero-config SDXL — works on 4 GB VRAM with offload
  • Built-in prompt expansion (GPT-2 based) writes better prompts than most users
  • Clean Gradio UI; inpainting / image-prompt / advanced tabs hidden by default
  • Active maintenance with a tight feature scope (no plugin sprawl)

– CONS

  • SDXL only — no SD 1.5, SD3, or Flux without forks
  • Less control surface than ComfyUI for advanced workflows
